【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedfor,butmaynotbelimitedto,physicalmatchexaminationsofpaperitems.Thephysicalmatchingorrealignmentofitemsofevidencemayoccurintwoorthreedimensions.Theproceduresoutlinedherearegroundedinthegenerallyacceptedbodyofknowledgeandexperienceinthefieldofforensicdocumentexamination.Byfollowingtheseprocedures,aforensicdocumentexaminercanreliablyreachanopinionconcerningwhetherornottwoormorepaperfragmentswereatonetimepartsofasinglepieceofpaper.1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresthatshouldbeusedbyforensicdocumentexaminers(GuideE444)forexaminationsandcomparisonstodeterminewhetherornottwoormorepaperfragmentswereatonetimejoinedtoformasinglepieceofpaper.1.2Theseproceduresareapplicablewhethertheexamination(s)andcomparison(s)isofquestionedandknownitemsorofexclusivelyquestioneditems.1.3Theseproceduresincludeevaluationofthesufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.4Theparticularmethodsemployedinagivencasewilldependuponthenaturesufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.5Thisguidemaynotcoverallaspectsofunusualoruncommonexaminations.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
